  • Corals for Kids

A few weeks ago we put out a call on Facebook to local reefers for help stocking a new tank for a great bunch of kids at a school that specializes in teaching children with learning disabilities. A handful of you really came through, ultimately donating roughly $2,000 worth of coral to the school! We put the last of the livestock in today, and thought you would appreciate seeing the project for yourself. There's a lot of growing in to do obviously, but not too bad for being just a few weeks old.

The kids start back to school next week, and the majority of them will see the upgraded tank for the first time then. But those who have seen it already LOVE it, and are happy Puffy came to the new building with them. (According to a number of surveys and studies by the administration, it was a high priority for students and parents that the school's pet porcupine puffer move along with the kids to their new building. He helps the kids calm down and focus remarkably well).
