  • Black Elephant Limpets - Originally from Norm's System - $10

I have a bumper crop of black elephant limpets. I got them originally from Norm and had sold off all but 2 when I broke down my last system. I now have about 20 again, which is a bit nuts in a nano tank.
They aren't the easiest to get out of the tank unless they happen to be on the glass, so let me know a bit in advance if you want any.

Do you have any pictures? Are these different from keyhole limpets? Trying to find more info, seeing that some are not reef safe.

I'll get a pic when one is out and fully visible.
The primary distinguishing trait between elephant limpets and black keyhole limpets is the absence of hole in the shell. Well, that and the fact that these get huge. These are not keyhole limpets and generally it is agreed upon that they are algae grazers. Keyhole limpets, depending on the type, have been noted to munch on SPS.

Most newer folks never met Norm or saw his tanks. His system was amazing. I don't know how many members of the club have these from him, but i know there are quite a few other than myself. I've never heard of anyone saying they had done anything other than mow down algae, and I have never seen them misbehave myself, other than they don't seem to care what they crawl across as they graze.

man that is a name from the past. Norms tank was probably one of the nicest i ever seen in person. i know he talked of building another once they moved and got settled in but i haven't heard any mumblings from him.
has anyone heard from him in general?

Probably not that would have been in the photo bucket hosting days. I imagine all pics would not be up now.
