  • Tang dying, is it best to euthanize?

My tang has been on a slow decline after my leds fell into the aquarium on Sunday, today my fish is not able to stay upright and is getting pulled into the power heads. Should I euthanize it, and if so what is the best way?

From my understanding, the best bet would be to place your fish in a separate container of water with a significant addition of clove oil. Mix it with warm water first then add it to the fish and other container slowly. It's used as an anesthetic in tiny amounts or euthanasia in stronger amounts. Though I think if your tang is that weak already it may have passed by the time you read this or get the ingredients.

Sorry about your loss, are the other fish affected?

Another option that is considered humane is to freeze the fish. Just place it in a container of tank water and place it in the freezer, it's supposedly puts them to sleep and is relatively quick.
